Addit:Ceremonial implement for summoning of ocean goddess.

Yemaya is an ancient African deity originating in the Yoruba religion. She is the Queen of the oceans and the Goddess of all mermaids.

This artefact was recovered from the island of Hirta, on the Western edge of Scotland. It depicts Yemaya as the mermaid Goddess with a fin and tail motif in brass and copper. The face of Yemaya is clearly visible on the crossguard carved from stag antler. There is a crystal of Lapis Lazuli set into the blade which is still visible through the pierced scabbard when the bald is sheathed. There is also a crystal of pure black obsidian set into either side of the handle and a further clear quartz crystal set into the pommel.
